A recent news release by the Heritage Conservancy confirms Upper Makefield Township’s ongoing efforts over the past several decades to preserve the David Library property from residential development. The Township has and continues to support the efforts by the State Department of Conservation and Natural Resources (DCNR) to acquire the property straddling the Delaware Canal. As part of the State park system, it is anticipated that this space will continue to be accessible to the public since the State plans to use the existing buildings and facilities as an interpretive center and as an administration and maintenance center for the Delaware Canal State Park. This agreement aligns with Upper Makefield’s commitment to land preservation which has resulted in conservation of nearly 40 % of Township land.
On behalf of the residents of Upper Makefield Township, we extend sincere thanks and appreciation to DCNR and the David Library for their efforts to preserve this gem in Upper Makefield and to our local State elected officials for their support.
