Last week, PennDOT announced that Upper Makefield has been awarded a $250,000 Multimodal Transportation Grant to augment the funding already received for the Rt. 532 streetscape project to support curb bump-outs, decorative crosswalks, pedestrian signals, and other improvements. The project is scheduled for 2026 to help commemorate the critical role Washington Crossing played in the founding of the United States as we celebrate our 250th anniversary. “We’re very happy to have received another grant to improve Rt. 532 in Washington Crossing,” said Upper Makefield Board of Supervisors Chair Yvette Taylor. “The grant will help us improve pedestrian safety and enhance the visual appeal of this historic area.”
