Emergency Declaration and Winter Storm Preparations

January 23rd, 2026

The Township has issued an Emergency Declaration in advance of the winter storm headed to our area, and Township staff and emergency services have been busy preparing. Please help our crews and emergency responders by parking cars in driveways and off public roads and by clearing snow around hydrants near your property. Report power outages online at PECO or by calling 1-800-841-4141.
Check the Police Facebook page for updates through the weekend.

🚔 UMTPD will have extra officers on during the entire weekend and into Monday to ensure we have the ability to answer your calls for service with minimal delays.

🚧 The Department of Public Works has brought on temporary help to assist over the weekend with plowing and salting.

🚧 The Department of Public Works will begin salting about an hour before the storm and as the snow accumulates, they will concentrate on clearing the main roads first.  Anticipate that neighborhood roadways may not be fully clear until some time on Monday depending on the amount of snow we receive.

🚧 Brownsburg Park and Lookout Park are closed for the weekend with barricades placed at the entrances of both parks. The Department of Public Works will not be plowing those lots until the storm is over as their main focus will be the streets.

🚑 The Newtown Ambulance Squad will have a full staff stationed at the Upper Makefield Fire Station on Taylorsville Road along with a 4 wheel drive ambulance squad.

🚒 UMFC personnel will be ready to answer any calls they may receive.

🚨 The Emergency Management Coordinator will be coordinating with Police, Public Works, Fire and Ambulance and will keep the lines of communication going with the township officials.

⚠️ With the storm most likely not starting until the overnight hours from Saturday into Sunday, we ask that you please complete any errands, food runs, etc. before the storm begins.

⚠️ Once the storm arrives, please do not travel on the roads unless it is absolutely imperative that you do so
